Coating Raw Materials Bayer MaterialScience Plans New Production Facility in Shanghai
Bayer MaterialScience plans to construct a new world-scale production facility for the coating raw material isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) at its integrated site in Shanghai, China.

Leverkusen, Shanghai/PR China – The planned investment volume is €65 million. The inauguration of the plant is scheduled for 2015.
The project is part of the company’s comprehensive investment program with a total volume of approximately €1 billion for the expansion of its production capacities in China. By that, the total investment of Bayer MaterialScience in China is increased to more than €3 billion.
IPDI is used as a raw material primarily in high-grade polyurethane coatings for applications such as for automotive finishing.
