Several people injured as toxic cloud emerges from chemical factory in Igualada, Spain: An accident during the unloading of chemicals at a Simar plant have caused and explosion, followed by a tocxic orange brown cloud.

Barcelona/Spain – According to reports by Spanish newsportal lanacion.com a blast occurred during the morning hours of February 12th. It seems that the accident happened during the unloading of nitric acid and iron chloride. Two truck drivers and one worker were reportedly injured in the explosion.

Local authorities and civil services asked the inhabitants of several nearby towns in the Barcelona area to remain indoors and keep windows sealed, an order which was repealed later that day as the cloud dispersed. Simar is a company speciaalised in the storage and distribution of chemicals, basic raw materials and specialties in Igualada, Spain.
