Diagnosis has always been a core business for Samson. The company's new 3730–6 positioner with integrated pressure sensors monitors air pressure and set pressure.

The positioner features the proven valve diagnosis tool Expertplus, that can monitor that whole control cycle of on and off positions. The partial stroke testing (PST) can be triggered both manual and automatically. A new revised Hart communication allows for a fast reading of diagnosis data.

The positioner garants a switching off according to IEC 61508 up to SIL3, thereby eliminating the need for an additional magnetic valve. "Another interesting feature is that the unit creates a valve signature like a passport for the valve – during commissioning to enable a comparism of the device throughout the whole life cycle," says Markus Günther, head of Samson's product department.

Another interesting development is the new intelligent magnetic valve 3788 with an integrated partial stroke testing and valve diagnosis. Despite this elaborate layout, the valve can be wired conservatively, Günther says. The signal is transferred via Namur contacts.

Samson also presents a new valve series for the oil&gas industry: The type 3291 is well suited for demanding applications with its v-port-cone and clamped seat, the manufacturer states. The user friendly device is constructed in a way that residues hardly form, Samson explains.

These innovations were recognised by granting Samson the „Ausgewählter Ort 2012“. seal of Germany's innovation initiative „365 Orte im Land der Ideen“ (365 locations in a land of ideas). The award ceremony will be held tonight.
