Propane Dehydrogenation World's Largest Propane Dehydrogenation Unit Starts Production
The world's largest propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit has begun production: The new 600 kta plant at Tianjin, PR China, uses Clariant's Catofin catalysts process and technology under a license from CB&I.

Tianjin/PR China – The new facility, which is also the first of its kind in China, exceeded its nameplate capacity in the first month of operation, illustrating the stability of the process.
With similar units spawning worldwide, Clariant expects a growing demand for it's Catofin technology. As a consequence, the company has recently expanded its production capacity for these catalysts site in Louisville/Kentucky, USA. Clariant expects to see a growing number of on-purpose propylene production units in the US in the wake of the shale gas boom.
