What to do in Case of Fire?

Valve specialist Schneider brought a range of valves with fire-safe approval to Bochum, in addition to the Taurus Double-Block & Bleed Pipeline ball valves developed for the oil and gas industry. These remain tight even under extreme conditions, such as in the event of a fire, and could be further opened and closed.

Also at event were the Vari-AS blocks for initial shut-off in the chemical, oil and gas industries. The metal-sealing ball valves are designed to enable reliable pressure measurements and protection of people and the environment.

Valves for Extreme Tasks

Diam newcomer Crane used the fair to introduce the metallic sealing Krombach KFO 9136 ball valve. It was specially developed for use in coal gasification, refineries and power generation and enables a tight seal with dead space-free flow, according to the manufacturer. The design as a directional single-seat valve requires a low torque, which allows the installation of smaller drives.

For critical applications and extreme temperature fluctuations, Crane's FKX 9000 features a triple eccentric butterfly valve designed to combine optimized Cv and low Delta P values in a single valve.

Two in One

The temperature-resistant slide valves of the 551 to 553 series from Emerson’s subsidiary Asco are also available in Atex or SIL certified versions. Upon request, further certifications (IECEx, UL, CU, TR, KOSHA), package options and materials are possible, the developers explained. Functional safety according to IEC61508 was provided by fault-tolerant control systems in 1oo2 or 2oo2 design, which can also be SIL 3 certified.

Together with their customers, Emerson also realizes integrated valve terminal solutions for installation in the control cabinet - an important feature in the life sciences, in particular, to reduce space requirements and meet strict hygiene requirements.
