International meeting place

The big players such as BASF, Evonik, Lonza, Siegfried or Saltigo, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, are also participating as a great number of Chinese and Indian suppliers. Primarily, the rising number of Asian companies, which exhibit at the Chemspec and partly practice a very aggressive price policy, clearly shows how high the competitive pressure in the industry is. Because even the clients from the agro and fine chemical industries are under high competitive pressure and pass it on one-to-one to their suppliers and partners. Therefore, the European fine and special chemical industries thoroughly cleaned up their portfolio in recent years and concentrated on profitable areas, like for example, Saltigo that is at the forefront in the agrochemical area, or Siegfried. The Swiss company concentrated on pharmaceutical ingredients in recent years and moulted into a contract manufacturer in the meanwhile, offering the entire pharmaceutical value chain, from active ingredient synthesis to formulation development and manufacture of solid dosage forms to sterile bottling.

Conferences and workshops

Visitors of Chemspec Europe await a series of top-class workshops and conferences in addition to the exhibition. New research and development findings are discussed in these workshops and conferences. The conference programme comprises, among other things, the Symposium of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Reach Ready Regulatory Services Conference, the Agrochemical Intermediates Conference and the Pharma Outsourcing Best Practices Panel, which is moderated by Dr. Magid Abou-Gharbia from Moulder Center for Drug Discovery.
