Collaborative robots are more prominently known as ‘cobots’ and are different from their elderly cousin – industrial robots. Unlike industrial robots that are heavy, bulky and hazardous for workers, cobots are light in weight, safe and can physically interact with their human colleagues in a shared workspace. Collaborative robots can carry out tasks that ensure greater accuracy and precision in the production process across numerous industries such as pharma and healthcare, manufacturing, food packaging, logistics, as well as construction.

According to The Business Research Company's Collaborative Robots Global Market Report 2023, the global collaborative robots market size is expected to grow from 1.9 billion dollars in 2022 to 2.5 billion dollars in 2023 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 29 %. The global collaborative robots market size is then expected to reach 7.1 billion dollars in 2027 at a CAGR of more than 28 %. The report further adds that going forward, growth in the automotive industry, rise in e-commerce and logistics and rising urbanization will drive the collaborative robots market growth.
