Safety is put first with the use of the K-System: Its barrier function limits the energy fed into the intrinsically safe circuit. The galvanic isolation of the measuring and control circuits protects control systems and field devices from interference caused by ground loops, ensuring signal reliability. The K-System is G3 compliant and enables up to SIL 3 to be achieved for all signal types, states the company.

With 200 isolated barriers and 150 signal conditioners, the System is the largest product portfolio of its kind. The possible applications are practically unlimited, both in hazardous areas and in mixed Ex and non-Ex areas. The product family consists of a wide range of modules, from simple switch amplifiers to highly functional components, including modules for all signal types and customizable multifunctional devices for any application.

Simple installation and maintenance are ensured by removable terminal blocks with test sockets and the internal diagnostic function of the modules, adds the firm. Hart signal transparency allows easy access to the field devices. In addition, K-System modules help reduce costs and save space in the control cabinet with their packing density of up to 6 mm per channel as well as their long service life due to low power consumption and low heat dissipation, mentions the company.

For maximum availability, the System features line fault detection of field circuits and modules with line fault transparency. The modules can be mounted horizontally and vertically without de-rating the operating values. Downtime is minimized as the modules can be hot swapped during operation, opines the firm. The operating temperature range extends from -40 °C to +70 °C.

As the first 2-channel AI/AO intrinsic safety barrier with dual function, the KCD2-SCS* can be configured individually for analog input or analog output control signals. With a compact 12.5 mm housing and a packing density of 6 mm/channel, the new module enables space-saving integration into the control cabinet. The interface modules are Hart-compatible and can be used both as Smart transmitter power supplies for two-wire transmitters and as Smart current drivers for valve positioners, shares the company.

With K-Duct series profile rails, the cable ducts are located behind the DIN mounting rail. Input and output wiring are separated by an integrated partition, ensuring the spatial separation of Ex and non-Ex signals. No space is required above and outside the DIN rail for the cabling, which is accommodated making optimum use of the available space. Compared to conventional cable routing, the use of the K-Duct system increases the packing density per enclosure by 50 percent, concludes the firm.
