BASF to Construct New Battery Recycling Prototype Unit

BASF has plans to build the new plant in Schwarzheide, Germany and aims to utilize innovative technology to extract lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries and production scrap. To establish a circular economy for the battery value chain, the extracted metals will be used to produce new cathode active materials.
