Linde has begun the supply of clean hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide to the global chemical and specialty materials company Celanese. Linde will be supplying carbon dioxide which has been captured from its carbon monoxide and hydrogen production facility at Clear Lake, Texas, USA.

The consortium led by Sonichem has secured funding from Innovate UK’s 'Resource efficiency for materials and manufacturing' programme. The funding will help the project to accelerate the development of the proprietary Sonichem ultrasound technology and the production of renewable, cost-effective alternatives to petrochemicals.

This includes the launch of a new hydrogen testing facility in Italy for validation of its Nova LT industrial turbines to run blends all the way up to 100 % hydrogen.

Chevron Lummus Global has commissioned the world's largest white oil hydroprocessing unit for Hongrun Petrochemical in China. The new plant consists of two units – a 500,000-metric-tons per annum nameplate capacity API Group III lubricating base oil unit with the capability to produce industrial-grade white oil, and a 200,000 metric tons per annum nameplate capacity food grade white oil unit.

Evonik has plans to expand the production of precipitated silica at its Charleston site in the USA by 50 %. The firm has already invested a mid-double-digit million Euro amount in a new production line which is scheduled to begin in mid-2024.

Toray Composite Materials America has successfully commissioned the upgraded carbon fiber production line at its Decatur, Alabama facility in the US. The upgrade is expected to double the production capacity of the Torayca T1100 carbon fiber.

Stamicarbon has won licensing and equipment supply contracts from Jiangsu Huachang Chemical Company for a urea melt plant in China. The unit is expected to have a capacity of 1860 MTPD and will make use of Stamicarbon’s ultra-low energy design with a highly efficient pool reactor concept.

Lhyfe has already held a groundbreaking ceremony for developing a green hydrogen plant in Germany. The unit is expected to produce up to 1,150 tonnes of green hydrogen per year by using renewable energy such as wind and solar.

With an aim to increase its global elastomers production capacity, Arkema has started-up a new production unit in France. With the new unit, the firm is expected to increase its production capacity by 40 %.

BASF is expected organize and manage the entire recycling process for the lithium-ion batteries used on Iveco Group electric vans, buses and trucks. The move is in line with Iveco Group’s circular economy strategy of increasing the lifetime of its batteries while decreasing its overall environmental impact.
