A recent MOU signed by Arcelor Mittal and the Spanish Government has resulted in a 1.18-billion-dollar investment in decarbonization technologies at Arcelor Mittal Asturias’ plant in Gijón, Spain. The new DRI and EAF installations at the Asturias plant will enable Arcelor Mittal Sestao to become the world’s first full-scale zero carbon-emissions steel plant.

Under an agreement signed between BASF and Vattenfall, BASF will purchase 49.5 % of Vattenfall’s wind farm Hollands Kust Zuid in the Netherlands. Claimed to be the world’s largest offshore wind farm once commissioned, the project is also the first offshore wind farm to be built without subsidies for the power produced.

Brightmark has plans to invest more than 680 million dollars for developing the world’s largest advanced plastics recycling and renewal facility in the USA. The 5.3 million square-foot site will include a plastics renewal process to sustainably recycle all types of plastic waste.
