Dow and UPM Biofuels have teamed up to produce plastics from a bio-based renewable feedstock for the packaging industry. With this move, Dow plans to address the growing demand for renewable plastics across the globe.

Lyondell Basell has plans to construct the new small-scale facility as a test plant for converting post-consumer plastic waste into new plastics. The company aims to achieve this task by using its proprietary molecular recycling technology which includes a proprietary catalyst-based approach.

Sulzer GTC Technology has recently entered into an agreement with Sibur to provide licensed pyrolysis gasoline processing technologies for the modernisation of a benzene production unit at Sibur’s Kstovo olefins production plant in Russia.

Dow announced an agreement with the Fuenix Ecogy Group from the Netherlands for the supply of pyrolysis oil feedstock, which is made from recycled plastic waste. The feedstock will be used to produce new polymers at the chemical group's production facilities at Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

Mc Dermott International has bagged a technology contract which includes basic engineering and technology licensing as well as detailed engineering and material supply of heaters for Irkutsk Oil Company’s 650 KTA ethylene plant in Russia.

The project aims at maximising biocrude yields in a commercially viable manner as well as improving the efficiency of biocrude to renewable diesel blendstock. It also plans to make the next-generation of renewable biofuels competitive.

Under the terms of the contract, Mc Dermott will build 8 ethylene cracking heaters at Chandra Asri Perkasa’s ethylene plant in Indonesia. Once completed, it will be the largest complex in the region which will help to satisfy the growing demand for petrochemical products.

Mcdermott has been awarded a sizeable technology contract by PT Chandra Asri Perkasa for the detailed engineering of 8 proprietary SRT (Short Residence Time) ethylene cracking heaters at the Chandra Asri Perkasa (CAP2) ethylene plant in Cilegon, Indonesia. The engineering company also announced an EPC contract awarded by BP Trinidad & Tobago of the Cassia Compression Platform.
