For the first time in the Mena region, oil which is processed from plastic waste has been converted into ISCC+ certified circular polymers. The plastic pyrolysis oil was processed at the Satorp refinery in Jubail, Saudi Arabia and then used as a feedstock by Petrokemya to produce certified circular polymers.

In line with the goals of the European Green Deal, Ineos Olefins Belgium has plans to create the region’s most eco-friendly and sustainable cracker project ever at a whooping cost of 3+ billion euros. The landmark ‘Project One’ will be located at the port of Antwerp in Belgium and will make use of the latest technologies to produce ethylene with the lowest carbon footprint in all of Europe.

John Cockerill has plans to develop a gigafactory for manufacturing electrolyzers which will help in the establishment of an integrated green hydrogen industry in Morocco. The factory will produce high-powered alkaline electrolyzers on a large-scale.

Cepsa has entered into an agreement with the Spanish water utility company Arcgisa to use recycled water from wastewater treatment plants to produce green hydrogen at its San Roque Energy Park in Spain. The project is expected to reduce the consumption of global drinkable water by 5 %.
