BASF expects growth of polyamide industry in Asia Pacific and has inaugurated its new Ultramid (polyamide 6 and 6/6.6) polymerization plant at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Shanghai/China.

On October 31, a fire occurred during the startup of the Citral plant in Ludwigshafen. Consequently, BASF had to shut down the plant and had to declare Force Majeure for its Citral and Isoprenol based aroma ingredients.

BASF plans to strengthen its position as the world’s leading chemical company. In its further developed strategy “We create chemistry,” the company outlines how it wants to achieve this.

The plant is the company’s maiden automotive coatings manufacturing facility in ASEAN. The project has been set up to meet the growing market demand in the region.

BASF has inaugurated its world-scale production complex for acrylic acid, butyl acrylate and superabsorbent polymers in Camaçari, Bahia, Brazil. The complex has a capacity of 160,000 tons of acrylic acid per year. The investment of more than € 500 million is the largest in BASF’s more than century-long history in South America.

BASF’s Coatings division has opened a new automotive coatings plant at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Caojing, Shanghai, China. After completing the front-end engineering and design, Fluor provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for the project.

An official groundbreaking marked the start of one of BASF's major projects: The company builds a new, world-scale chemical catalysts production facility at itss existing site in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, China.

BASF announced that it plans to increase its global Alkyl Polyglucosides (APG) production capacity with two production expansion projects at sites in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jinshan, China.

Dystar continues its transformation process, moving production operations from Germany to Asia. With a further commitment on the Asian markets, the company expects to grow during a potentially unstable 2012.

BASF expects peak sales of approximately $ 4.3 billion for products in its crop protection pipeline by 2027. The company announced that product candidates from all indications had reached advanced development phases and global registration was proceeding for key technologies.
