Dr. Martin Brudermüller is the current CEO of BASF and has been appointed by Cefic as its new President. He succeeds Daniele Ferrari, CEO of Versalis (Eni) who has occupied the post since October 2018.

Already in the middle of this year, BASF in Shanghai more than doubled its compounding capacities for polyamide and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and started operations in Korea a plant for compounding the two materials in October. Now BASF will expand its compounding capacities for engineering plastics in Schwarzheide/Germany.

The acquisition has led to the establishment of the MBCC Group and Dr. Jochen Fabritius has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the new standalone company. The Group will be focusing on delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry.

BASF has started up a world-scale plant for the production of specialty amines in Ludwigshafen. The multi-product plant can manufacture approximately 12,000 metric tons per year of a product range of about 15 amines for different applications.

Under the MOU signed between BASF New Business (BNB) and the South Korean based firm G-Philos, BNB will supply Nas batteries to G-Philos till 2022 as well as support the firm in the development of the Power Conversion Systems business for Nas batteries.

BASF has plans to expand its Sparks facility in Georgia, USA. The company has already invested 70 million dollars to produce seed treatment formulations at the site which will benefit farmers and the local communities.

The five modular polymer injection plants have been successfully designed, supplied, installed and commissioned at a major oilfield in Argentina. The plants are expected to minimise mechanical degradation of polymers and will also help increase oil recovery rates.

The 11th colloquium on Process Analytics was held in the historical dome hall of TU Vienna under this motto. BASF has begun its first production of diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) at its wholly-owned site in Chongqing. MDI production will support key industries in China’s western areas.

BASF has extended its range of high-quality bio-based polyols sold under the Sovermol trademark. The products are used for manufacturing low-emission 2K PU coatings for interior and exterior applications.
