BASF’s Coatings Division has appointed Patrick Zheng Yu Zhao to take charge of the new Global Automotive OEM Coatings Solutions business unit in Hong Kong. It has also chosen Chris Titmarsh for its new Global Automotive Refinish Coatings Solutions business unit in Münster, Germany along with Frank Naber who will be responsible for the Global Surface Treatment business unit in Frankfurt, Germany.

BASF’s advanced OASE blue technology will be used by Linde and Heidelberg Materials’ large-scale CO2 capture facility. Once complete, the project is expected to capture, purify and liquify around 70,000 tons per year of CO₂ which can then be used as feedstock for the chemicals industry and into the food and beverage end-use markets.

BASF has plans to invest in a new citral plant as well as menthol and linalool downstream plants in China and Germany respectively in order to expand its aroma ingredients business.

BASF recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new acrylic acid complex at its Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China. With an annual production capacity of approximately 400,000 metric tons of BA and 100,000 metric tons of 2-EHA, the project is expected to further expand the firm’s production capacities in the acrylics value chain in China.

Under a long-term agreement between both the parties, BASF and Tenova Advanced Technologies (TAT) will work together to develop a battery recycling prototype plant in Schwarzheide, Germany. TAT’s novel process for the recovery and production of lithium will be used for the recycling process.

Under an agreement signed between both the parties, Linde Engineering will develop a new synthesis gas plant for BASF in China. The company will provide a tailor-made package of technology and services for the project.

The mega funding has been secured due to the rise in the demand for robotic solutions in heavy industries. The move will also help to scale deployments internationally, fuel the development of new capabilities, and strengthen Anybotics' position in the robotic inspection solutions market.

With Ralph Schweens, the current President of the global Operating Division at Care Chemicals retiring soon, the company has appointed Dr. Mary Kurian Senior, Vice President, Petrochemicals North America at BASF, to succeed him.

Today, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) facilities around the world have the capacity to capture more than 40 Mt CO2 each year, according to the International Energy Agency. This figure is set to increase as more countries form CCUS-friendly policies in order to establish these green projects with aim to decarbonize its industrial facilities.
