Scientists at the Technical University of Munich have developed a method that could make the production of fuel from waste economically viable.

The technologies for gas treatment include filtration, deacification, chemicals treatment, de-NOx, de-SOx, heat recovery and dioxine elimination.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America has completed the construction of a large-scale two-train polyethylene plant in Mont Belvieu, Texas, for Exxon Mobil Chemical Company.

Under the deal, Kemira will combine its expertise in water treatment with ABB’s integrated automation solutions to enable customers to digitalise their water treatment processes and also improve the efficiency of their operations.

Teijin Aramid is going to expand its aramid production capacity for its Twaron super fiber and will invest in new spinning technology at the facility in Emmen, the Netherlands. The start-up of the new facility is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.

With an aim to contribute to the circular economy, Eastman will be making use of its carbon renewal technology to recycle old carpets and create new materials from them. The company has also collaborated with Circular Polymers to secure feedstock for the technology.

Exxon Mobil and Fuel Cell Energy have entered into a two-year expanded joint-development agreement to further develop the carbonate fuel cell technology for industrial use. The 60 million dollar deal aims to optimise the core technology for large-scale carbon capture.

CB&I received a contract for their Novolen technology to be applied on a polypropylene plant to be built by Carbon Holdings in Egypt.

Sadara announced that it has successfully started up its Propylene Glycol (PG) plant in the company's chemical complex in Jubail Industrial City II.

Gazprom intends to adopt specialised technologies from BASF in order to improve eco-efficiency and optimise the performance of its Astrakhan gas processing plant in Russia. Gazprom and BASF also have plans to develop a solution for separation of sulfur from natural gas.
