Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilizers, has announced that its French subsidiary Borealis Chimie divests its joint-ownership share in the Le Havre urea production plant and related ammonia storage facility at Gonfreville l’Orcher, France.

Nouryon has made a series of investments at its metal alkyls plant in Rotterdam to improve efficiency and increase capacity. The projects are to enable the company to continue meeting growing demand from customers in the polymer industry and improve supply reliability in Europe.

BASF and Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) have signed an agreement to cooperate closely in the area of machine learning. The aim of the collaboration is to develop workable new mathematical models and algorithms for fundamental questions relating to chemistry, for example, from process or quantum chemistry.

With the expansion of production capacity for vitamin A by 25 % in Ludwigshafen, Germany, BASF reacts to the rising demand for high-quality vitamin A products as well as to global market growth. For this purpose, the chemical giant has expanded an existing plant in Ludwigshafen, Germany, which is part of BASF’s Citral Verbund.

BASF, Solvay and Domo Chemicals agreed that Domo will acquire the European PA6.6 business from Solvay. This transaction is targeted to close by the end of 2019 and remains subject to the approval of the relevant competition authorities.

Nouryon has announced a new organizational model as part of its strategy to accelerate growth and drive performance improvement. The new model, which will take effect January 1, 2020, is organized around three market-focused businesses supported by a centralized Operations and Functional structure.

Chiyoda Group with its JV partners Saipem and Mc Dermott International will be responsible for carrying out the project. Under the terms, Saipem will execute the project while Mirai Engineering Italy will offer specified technical support.

Fluor is responsible for undertaking engineering, procurement and construction work for expansion of Milliken’s chemical plant at the Allen Plant site in Blacksburg, South Carolina. Work on the project is already in progress.
