BASF has completed the previously announced sale of its ultrafiltration membrane business to Dupont. The chemical company explained its decision with the lack of synergies within the group.

Huntsman, the specialty chemicals manufacturer has made the deal with Indorama Ventures. The transaction included a cash purchase price of approximately 1.93 billion dollars and the net cash proceeds are expected to be under 1.6 billion dollars.

The deal aims to market Polymateria’s Biotransformation technology via Clariant’s Masterbatches. Both the firms will work together with the Indian Government’s Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology and use the technology for domestic brands and packaging organisations.

Clariant has licensed its sunliquid cellulosic ethanol technology to Anhui Guozhen Group and Chemtex Chemical Engineering for establishing a commercial cellulosic ethanol facility in China. The plant is expected to handle a production capacity of 50.000 tonnes of cellulosic ethanol annually.

The mega project is expected to include a 1.2 MMt/y ethylene unit; pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation; aromatics extraction; and production facilities for butadiene, high-density PE, low-density PE, PE plastomers and elastomers, PP, and other derivatives, reports Chemical Week.

Actega’s new site aims to merge the administration, production and R&D activities from two old sites in Brazil into the Araçariguama location. By 2021, the company also plans to transfer its third site to the newly integrated site.

L&T Technology Services has won an EPCM contract by one of the leading plastics, chemicals and refining manufacturers for the expansion of an existing plant in Europe. The expansion work is expected to be carried out at the customer’s brownfield unit in Germany.
