BASF and Sinopec commenced production at the second propionic acid plant at the Verbund site in Nanjing, China. The new plant has an annual production capacity of 30,000 metric tons of propionic acid.

BASF 3D Printing Solutions is to provide innovative additive manufacturing materials to Paxis LLC for their new WAV technology. This is currently in development and is designed to meet the needs of additive manufacturing users.

As part of its five-year investment to boost capacity and operational excellence within its global plastics additives business, BASF has awarded Emerson a multi-million-dollar contract to modernize automation software and controllers at its specialty chemical production facility in Lampertheim, Germany. These enhancements are to help the world’s largest chemical manufacturer increase production flexibility and enhance operations.

The plants will be built at BASF’s Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China and are expected to cater to the global demand for engineering plastics and TPU. The company has plans to invest 10 billion dollars in the Verbund site.

Following the approval of all relevant authorities, BASF and Letter One have successfully completed the merger of Wintershall and Dea. With the joint venture called Wintershall Dea the partners intend to create the leading independent European exploration and production company with international operations in core regions.

BASF has expanded the production of polyacrylamide powder at its site in Nanjing, China and with this move, the firm aims to produce additional 20,000 metric tonnes per year capacity of polyacrylamide in order to support mining customers in the Asia Pacific region.

BASF has opened its first production plant for dispersions in South Africa located at Umbogintwini Industrial Complex in Durban. With this new production facility BASF will serve its customers in the fast growing South African and Sub-Saharan African coatings and construction industry with acrylic dispersions based on state-of-the-art technologies.

BASF will increase the production capacity for its Sodium Methylate plant in Guaratinguetá, Brazil. The nameplate capacity will increase by 30 %, from currently 60,000 metric tons to 80,000 metric tons. The new capacity will come onstream in 2020.

Under the terms of the contract, Toyo will be responsible for carrying out engineering work for BASF’s investments in Asia Pacific. The renewed agreement can be traced back to the original partnership agreement which aimed at strengthening the partnership for BASF’s upcoming investments.

BASF has increased its global annual capacity for the production of the chemical intermediate PolyTHF (chemical name: polytetra­methylene ether glycol – PTMEG) from 185,000 metric tons to 250,000 metric tons. The company has continuously developed and expanded its production processes.
