BASF has celebrated the inauguration of its new facilities for the production of Ucrete in Bukit Raja, Klang/Malaysia. It is the first manufacturing hub in Asia Pacific to produce all components of Ucrete.

Kolon Plastics and BASF signed an agreement to establish a joint venture in Korea to manufacture polyoxymethylene (POM), an engineering plastic used in industrial, transportation, construction and consumer markets.

With an aim to cater to the growing electric vehicle market, BASF and Eramet have plans to develop a nickel-cobalt refining complex for producing electric batteries. The mega refining complex will include a high-pressure acid leaching plant and a base metal refinery.

The first phase of the MDI capacity expansion project, which includes a new MDI synthesis unit at BASF’s Louisiana site, is complete while the second phase, which consists of capacity increases of several upstream units, is currently under progress. The final phase is expected to bring the capacity to approximately 600,000 metric tonnes per year.

BASF’s Durasorb Cryo-HRU technology proves to be an effective solution for the removal of trace heavy hydrocarbons (HHCs) and water from lean natural gas feeds for cryogenic processing. The technology can be used for new units as well as retrofits.

BASF’s new plant has been developed in Pontecchio Marconi, Italy and will offer its Nor technology platform to the expanding agriculture industry. The platform comprises of a range of light and thermal stabilisers which prove beneficial for plasticulture applications.

BASF recently held a groundbreaking ceremony online for its new cathode active materials production plant in Schwarzheide, Germany. The new unit will make use of cutting-edge process technology to produce battery materials for electric vehicles.

BASF has partnered with Tecnalia and together they have developed a technology for automated image recognition. This technology is expected to offer a more precise evaluation of the efficiency of new crop protection products.
