Solvay has invested in Li-metal battery start-up Sepion through its venture capital fund Solvay Ventures. With this, the company aims to accelerate commercialization of lithium metal batteries for long-range and low-cost electric vehicles. Sepion’s technology is based on an innovative polymeric membrane which prevents the growth of dendrites and can be used to leverage the current Li-ion manufacturing infrastructure and liquid electrolytes.

The German chemical industry association 'Verband der Chemischen Industrie e.V.' (VCI) has reported that production in the German chemical pharmaceutical industry rose by 4.5 % compared to the previous year, and turnover increased by 15.5 % to approximately 247 billion dollars (220 billion euros) due to the significant increase in producer prices (+ 8.5 %). The VCI also predicts that production is expected to increase by 2 % and the turnover by 5 % to 260 billion dollars (231 billion euros) in 2022.

Messer has launched a new on-site nitrogen unit for Energoaqua in Czech Republic. With this move, the company was able to eliminate CO2 emissions from tank trucks which were earlier used to deliver nitrogen gas to Energoaqua, thus leading Energoaqua to produce its nitrogen independently and with high supply reliability.
