French gases company Air Liquide and EZZ Steel, one of the leading steel producers in the Middle East and Africa, have signed a new long term agreement for the supply of industrial gases to EZZ’s new plant in Ain Sokhna, East of Cairo, Egypt.

In a joint project, the consortium including mk2 Biotechnologies, Wacker and the Technical University of Munich have developed a scalable and cost-efficient process for the production of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) based on microbial fermentation.

The new facility is expected to initially convert up to one million tons of municipal solid waste annually, later it can be expanded up to four million tons of waste, to produce 67,000 tons of green hydrogen and one million tons of CO₂.
