Larox Flowsys has introduced a new valve to supplement its pinch valve and knife gate valve families: The Larox Rotary Disc (LRD) valve has a unique rotating disc designed specifically for scale-forming, abrasive and corrosive slurries and powders. The patented design allows the valve to cycle in heavily scaling slurries without sticking or leaking, and with minimum wear, even at pressures up to 100 bar. The LRD valve is designed for leak-tight shut-off, with operation only in the fully open or fully closed positions. Each time the valve cycles, the disc rotates a few degrees, so wear is uniform rather than being confined to specific points. The wedge gate support has a cutaway behind the disc, which clears away debris and ensures a tight seal every time. According to the manufacturer the LRD is easy to customize for different materials and pressure ratings, and it is available with a choice of actuators.
