Specialised Technologies Proven Innovations for Bagging Ultra-Light Powders
At this year's Powtech in Nuremberg, Germany, Greif-Velox will demonstrate to its customers the potential benefits offered by the vacuum packer Velovac, the patented external valve cutter Valvocut and the gross-weight pneumatic packer BVP.
In conventional bagging technologies for powders with low bulk density, such as colour pigments and industrial carbon blacks, the bags are often voluminous, dusty and unstable. They also contain more entrapped air than valuable product.
With the Velovac vacuum technology, this is no longer the case, because customers get the following benefits:
• Dust-free filling
• Up to 50 per cent slimmer and more stable bags
• An optimum pallet stacking pattern
• Reduction in warehousing and logistics costs of up to 75 per cent
• Enhanced industrial safety
The bagging of finest powders with particle sizes smaller than 200 µm and a bulk density of 10 to 450 g/l takes place in a completely enclosed vacuum chamber. In this chamber an atmospheric vacuum is generated through which the product is sucked into the vacuum bags. Any escaping dust is removed by suction and immediately redirected into the bagging process. In this way, none of the valuable product is lost, states the firm.
In addition, this process is particularly gentle on the product. Depending on the compaction potential of the material to be packed, a maximum product compaction of up to 400 per cent is achieved. According to the company, the closed vacuum system helps to keep the bags, the plant and the ready-loaded pallets clean. The dust load in the environment of the packaging plant is reduced to almost zero and thus has a huge impact on health and safety.
At Powtech, Greif-Velox will present the vacuum packer Velovac for the first time with the optimised external valve cutter Valvocut, which leads to greater process reliability, auto-minimised power consumption and an increase in overall production. The new cut-off can also be retrofitted to all existing Velovac systems as part of retrofit measures.
Customers become partners
The BVP gross-weight pneumatic packer for filling powders and fine-grained products is characterised by an innovative residual emptying process. The product glides into the valve bags on an air stream. The air flow is optimally adjusted to the bulk density, the grain size and the flow properties of the product. Thanks to an optimised boiler design, the cleaning process is reduced by up to 80 per cent. This is particularly important in applications where regular product changes are required. Customers benefit from reduced downtimes and higher productivity, adds the firm.
The company will be displaying its smart solutions and innovative ideas in Hall 1, Booth 1-251 at Powtech.
