Time's up for mercury: The Colombian company Brinsa plans to replace its present mercury based amalgam electrolysis with a modern, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly membrane technology.

Bogota/Colombia – The plant in Cajicá, a city near the capital of Bogota, shal lbe equipped with state–of–the–art membrane units by Chlorine Engineers of Japan. The engineering work for the retrofit project shall be carried out by Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz (CAC) with regard to technological equipment, for providing support during the construction and assembly phase, as well as for providing assistance during the commissioning and start-up.
