Novacap, through its Performance Chemicals Division, launched a new on-purpose Di isopropyl Ether (DIPE) unit at its Roussillion plant in France.
Les Roches-Roussillon/France — The new plant, built on the Roussillon chemical platform, will have capacity of circa 5,000 tons.
The new fully upstream integrated plant was designed using an innovative, environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient process, the company claims.
On September 7, the plant was officially inaugurated in the presence of elected representatives, customers and business partners.
DIPE will increase the range of oxygenated solvents already produced by the division, which also include, Isopropanol, Acetone, and more recently, in 2014, Isopropyl. DIPE is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry as an extractive solvent and in the crystallisation process of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The product is also used as a specialty solvent for resins, coatings and dyes and for new applications in environmental sectors like waste water treatment
This project is a part of the company's strategy to become a leader in chemicals and life sciences, with a priority development focus on pharmaceutical industry markets.
