The new radar sensor is available in two versions, a simple version with a light plastic antenna of PP and a lens antenna integrated in a flange. The antennas are insensitive to deposits and ensure trouble-free operation even under harsh conditions. The flange version has an intelligent swivel holder made of high quality stainless steel with which the antenna can be set conveniently so that the sensor can be optimally aligned in a range of ±10°. Inspired by the spirit level App, the Vega engineers came up with something special. They developed an App which can be used to set the angle of inclination for the installation of the measuring instrument. To do this, the Smartphone is simply placed on the instrument so that the sensor can be aligned quickly and optimally.
A purge air connection which ensures efficient cleaning in extreme applications is provided as standard. This is used for example in the measurement of wood chips. The user also benefits from the dynamic echo tracking with the Vegapuls 69.
The sensor can be used both for continuous level measurement and as a limit level switch. In the former application, the filling height is measured and transformed into a level proportional signal that is either displayed directly or is processed in a control system. In the point level detection, on the other hand, the filling heights are measured at a fixed point and transformed into a switching command. The switching command can be used either to stop or start in a filling system such as conveyor belts, rotary valves, and pneumatic conveyors or for further processing in the process control system.
In addition to a continuous measurement, sensors for point level detection (Vegavib, Vegawave, Vegacap) offer additional safety as an independent measuring system. For further processing of the measured values, Vega offers a wide range of signal conditioning instruments from the simple display to linking to Ethernet and measured data wireless transmission. The Vega Inventory System enables optimum logistics of raw materials from the supplier to the production facility.
Convincing Results in Practice
The new radar level measuring instruments have been installed in various test applications since the beginning of the year. Above all, the echo curves were recorded to reprocess and optimize the algorithms on this basis. Since June, instruments of the so-called zero series have been in use worldwide in different applications.
