USA: Transaction Nestlé Expands Medical Nutrition Division with New Acquisition

Nestlé has signed a contract with Allergan for the purchase of the gastrointestinal drug Zenpep. The company's objective is to expand its Medical Nutrition business and complement its portfolio of therapeutic products.

Vevey/Switzerland - Nestlé has taken a strategic growth step in the USA with the purchase of Zenpep from Allergan. Zenpep is a medicine available in the USA for people whose pancreas does not produce enough enzymes to break down fat, protein and carbohydrates. In 2018, sales of Zenpep amounted to $ 237 million.

The acquisition is expected to be completed at the same time as the merger of Allergan and Abbvie. Financial details were not disclosed. Upon completion of the transaction, Zenpep will be fully owned by Nestlé.
