Management Decision Namur Announces Changes to its Board

Frank van den Boomen from Covestro and Rene Neijts from Dow are the newly elected members to the Namur Board. Boomen has succeeded Thorsten Dreier for Covestro and Neijts has been appointed by Dow after the retirement of Mr. Oehlert.

Leverkusen/Germany – Frank van den Boomen will succeed Thorsten Dreier for Covestro. Thorsten Dreier has taken on new responsibilities within Covestro and has made his seat available. Rene Neijts (Dow) takes over the seat of Dow which became vacant due to the retirement of Mr. Oehlert.

Rene Neijts

After completing his Master degree in Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven in 1988, Rene started his career with Dow in Terneuzen, Netherlands. After several roles in operations, he joined the polypropylene project team in 1996 as a process automation engineer and relocated to Germany and the USA to design, construct and start up two world-scale plants. As part of a global role in the Polypropylene Technology Center, he assumed the process automation lead in several polyethylene projects and in 2003 relocated to Spain.

In 2008 he became Global Process Automation Director for the Packaging & Specialty Plastics business and in this role returned to the USA in 2013 to support Dow’s growth efforts on the Gulf Coast. In 2019 he returned to Spain where he assumed his current position as Global Senior Process Automation Director within the Technical Expertise & Support (TES) function.

Frank van den Boomen

After studying chemical engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven, Frank joined DSM in 1997, initially as a process/project engineer in R&D in Geleen (Netherlands). This was followed by five years as site manager of two plants in Rotterdam and six years as VP Operations for DSM Functional Materials in Stanley, NC (United States). After his return in 2014, he was responsible for Continuous Improvement and Health, Safety and Environment for the DSM Group for four years.

Subsequently, he took over the role as Chief Operating Officer for DSM Resins and Functional Materials in Amsterdam (Netherlands), responsible for Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Purchasing.

Currently, Frank van den Boomen is Global Head of Operations at Covestro Coatings and Adhesives.
