The new L-Com 5500 Ex sensor enables highly sophisticated concentration measurements of three-component mixtures, also in hazardous environments. It is a smart combination of process density and sound velocity measurement in just one sensor, states the firm. Measuring both density and sound velocity simultaneously is helpful, for example, when optimising the production of formaldehyde by measuring the formaldehyde-methanol-water ratio inline and in real-time.
The new sensor is certified for explosion-proof areas:
• ATEX: Ex II 2G Ex db IIB T4/T5 Gb
• IECEx: Ex db IIB T4/T5 Gb
• CSA/UL/FM: Class I Division 1 Gr CD T4/T5
o Ex db IIB T4/T5 Gb
o Class I Zone 1,
o AEx db IIB T4/T5 Gb
The sensor offers the highest accuracy available in the market – with a sensor built by the world leader in density and concentration measurement, adds the company. To provide utmost flexibility for all types of process installations, the sensor can be installed inline, with a bypass or as a direct tank installation with or without a pump. Part of the sensor package is the development of a concentration formula for the specific customer application, which is then delivered with the instrument.
