Helsinki/Finland – Kemira plans to consolidate some Pulp & Paper chemical production in North America, resulting in the closure of a manufacturing site in Vancouver, Canada. The Vancouver site produces process and functional chemicals for the Pulp & Paper segment. The planned consolidation is expected to impact approximately five employees.

It’s expected that production at the site will end during the first half of 2025 and will move to Kemira’s Washougal, Washington site, where Kemira already produces process and functional chemicals.

The intended move is expected to streamline operational efficiency in Kemira’s North American operations in response to changing market conditions. The consolidation is not related to the planned changes to Kemira’s new operating model and organization structure announced during Q3 2024.

Kemira remains committed to serving its Pulp & Paper customers in North America and in the Pacific Northwest, and the consolidation will not impact its customers.
