Phenol Technology License KBR Licenses Phenol Technology for Chinese Partner

With KBR's proprietary phenol technology, Chinese chemicals company Lihuayi aims to build a new grassroots phenol/acetone plant. Lihuayi has recently chosen KBR as a technology partner, expecting to become the nucleus of an all new chemicals cluster in North-East China.

Houston, Texas/USA – American engineering and construction company KBR will license its proprietary phenol technology for a 220,000 tons/year Phenol/Acetone plant in Lijin County, China.

During the last 60 years KBR claims to have successfully finished more than 50 phenol projects around the globe. “KBR’s phenol technology is known for its reliability and safety, which are important long-term cost of production measures in this extremely competitive industry,” said John Derbyshire, President, Technology.

Mr. Li Yusheng, General Manager of Lihuayi Group, operators of the Lijin plant, added: “The Phenol/acetone Project is one of the major organic chemical projects invested by Lihuayi Group. Through the technical cooperation between Lihuayi and KBR, our leading industrial chain will be extended, and the industrial product structure will be optimized and upgraded. It will accelerate the forging of industrial clusters of organic chemical and new materials, and promote to achieve variation development of our leading industry, thus establish the advantage of leading development and realize environmental friendly development and sustainable development.”
