The new Emco plant in Pleasant Prairie is a first-class facility that is the result of equal parts vision, ambition, talent and teamwork. Optimizing Air Consumption in AODD Pumps
Throughout the history of AODD pumps, manufacturers have worked to find a reliable solution to the technology’s one blind spot: “overfilling” of the air chamber during the period from the end of each stroke to the completed shift of the valve, without any corresponding displacement of fluid.
To combat this overfilling, Wilden Pump has long been an innovator in air distribution system (ADS) development. Yet while its Turbo-Flo, Pro-Flo and Pro-Flo X ADS models undeniably advanced the technology, the industry was still waiting for the “Eureka!” moment in ADS development.
That moment arrived in 2013 when Wilden completed the development of the Pro-Flo Shift ADS. This all-mechanical system incorporates a control spool that restricts air flow into the air chamber near the end of each pump stroke, preventing overfilling without reducing product yield.
A Wilden AODD pump outfitted with the Pro-Flo Shift ADS can achieve up to 60 % savings in air consumption, while costing 50 % less to operate than pumps that feature an electronically actuated ADS. The Pro-Flo Shift ADS is available on Wilden’s Original (clamped) and Advanced (bolted) Series AODD pumps.
Emco Chemical Distributors has installed a number of Pro-Flo Shift Advanced Fit Series PS800 (2-inch/51 mm) AODD pumps in the warm room at its new facility in Pleasant Prairie, WI, USA, and has nothing but rave reviews for the technology.
