The CPHI Pharma Awards 2023 has opened for entries and it invites global innovators, scientists, entrepreneurs and social leaders to participate in it. The Award show has launched three new categories –accelerating innovation, start-ups and being at the heart of pharma.

Amsterdam/The Netherlands – The 20th anniversary edition of the CPHI Pharma Awards is now open for entries, with three new categories created to reflect the surge of innovation sweeping the industry – from new methodologies to sustainability and philanthropic initiatives.

In the last year, pharma has continued its rapid rate of innovation embracing the speed of pandemic R&D, but added to this are new social goals that aim to improve the wider world as well as bottom lines and therapeutic/device options.

In total, the CPHI Pharma Awards will celebrate global leaders from across 12 categories, including returning categories spanning development and manufacturing of devices and drugs, alongside packaging, supply chain, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and the much-vaunted CEO of the Year award. Previous winners include the who’s who of pharma manufacturing CEOs from Piramal and Wuxi Apptec to Catalent and last year’s winner Aragen Life Sciences.

A new Start-up award has been specifically introduced to honor exhibitors from the start-up zone – a new part of CPHI Barcelona that celebrates the craft of recent stellar start-ups (only exhibitors here may enter). In this new era of global collaborative research, many of the biggest innovations emerge from some of the smallest companies and this category will span projects at the proof-of-concept stage to protype or commercial launch.

In a change from 2022 and to reflect the wider efforts of many companies, the Covid Response category is renamed the Accelerating Innovation award. The winner will be selected based on innovations used to help combat the impact of global healthcare emergencies or future health emergencies.

Finally, the new Heart of Pharma award will celebrate the acceleration of social, ethical and philanthropic activities. This is to recognize the individuals, companies or initiatives that have made the most significant contributions to improving patient engagement or centricity, promoted corporate social responsibility and/or improvements to healthcare accessibility and equity.
