Success Story: Fast-Track Seal Retrofit in Mantova, Italy

When the double mechanical seals on two horizontal reactors at a petrochemical plant in Mantova failed, the facility came to a complete stop. Our service team joined forces with AMK Engineering to address the crisis with clear leadership and seamless collaboration, bringing together design engineers, field technicians, and local specialists.

They identified that the HSMR35-D/220-E3 seals, which were originally supplied for vertical machines, could be adapted for the horizontal reactors. AMK Engineering produced construction drawings and arranged for the local fabrication of simple adapter kits in just four days. Our on-site crew then modified and installed the seals, keeping the plant’s operations staff fully informed throughout the process.

Thanks to this rapid response, the plant was able to restart immediately, avoiding extended downtime and the cost of bespoke parts. This success story is now driving the standardization of EagleBurgmann seals across seven other Italian sites as a model of customer-focused problem solving.
