Leverkusen/Germany — The project is the first step of a global capacity increase for the manufacturer´s film production. The total investment of approx. $ 114 million also includes an expansion of the associated infrastructure and logistics.

The manufacturer already operations a film production plant in Map Ta  Phut. According to Dr. Thorsten Dreier, Global Head of Covestro´s Specialty Films Business, the most important objective of this expansion is to intensify the collaboration with customers in Asia Pacific, in particular, to improve efficiency and punctual delivery. From a strategic point of view, the line played an essential role in enabling fastest time-to-market, but also broadening the company's market access in Asia, he added.

The existing films facility started operations in January 2007 and produces Makrofol polycarbonate and Bayfol polycarbonate blend films, which are used in industry sectors such as security and ID cards, automotive, medical, as well as electrical and electronics.
