Since 2025, new Schubert machines are equipped with an interface to the new Care system as a standard feature – and the company is gradually adapting its existing machines. Since 2022, Care has been an integral part of the packaging machine manufacturer’s digital service portfolio. The online machine platform offers users full transparency regarding their lines’ performance, shares the company. Care obtains information on production speed, uptime, rejects and throughput, for example, via interfaces to the machines, including quality control scanners. The Care control system also provides key performance data – a key Schubert feature that significantly enhances data granularity. The system summarizes this data concisely in a dashboard. Customers can view all the values via a web portal – and will receive even more precise insights in the future, adds the firm.

Transparency, user-friendliness and lean processes are at the forefront of digital solutions – and with them, ongoing adjustments, explains the company. The firm has continuously evolved Care in close collaboration with users so that customers can access the transparency they need regarding their OEE – in a way that is even more standardized, faster and more customized, mentions the firm.

Standard-compliant OEE calculation

DIN EN 415-11 applies to the performance evaluation of packaging lines. This European norm defines standardized key figures for uniformly measuring the efficiency and availability of packaging machines. The updated Care monitoring solution performs OEE calculations in line with this standard. This is how the company ensures that Care delivers comparable key figures for all lines that use our monitoring solution, explains the firm. Optimizing the OEE on one machine can therefore be transferred to other lines more quickly, opines the firm. Another new feature is the infeed speed, which adds a significant variable to the OEE values.

Quicker access

Unlike in the past, Schubert no longer processes the machine data in its own IT environment. Instead, the machines themselves take on this task. Key performance and production data is now available to operators within their own infrastructure and therefore more quickly, explains the company. The information displayed on the web portal corresponds to the views on the control screens of the machines themselves – making it even easier to assign the data.

The enhanced Care further offers an offline solution. In the future, in addition to the web portal, users will have access to the dashboard on their own infrastructure, for example on the intranet or on dedicated computers. To this end, Schubert uses a license model in which on-site visualization continues to be carried out in line with Schubert standards, opines the firm.

Customized display

Schubert prioritizes user-friendliness when it comes to evaluation. The upgraded Care software displays key values as required by the specific calculation framework. The platform offers the flexibility needed for day-to-day production, whether for individual machines or entire lines at different sites, on a daily or weekly basis.

Different users access Care and prioritize different factors, shares the company. For example, a production manager focuses on output, whereas a technician is primarily interested in breakdowns and downtime. Thanks to its multifaceted evaluation options, Care is now even better equipped to meet this wide range of requirements, concludes the firm.
