Bayer's agrochemicals division Bayer Crop Science plans to bundle it's R&D activities in the US at a new site in West Sacramento, California.

Davis, California/USA – The new integrated site, based on an existing office and laboratory building, shall house up to 300 employees, Bayer stated. The company's vegetable seeds research as well as theBiologics business management unit, both currently located in Davis, California, will move about ten miles to West Sacramento in early 2014. The site will also include a pilot plant, with nearby land available for greenhouse and test plot purposes.

“Our new facilities will enable us to deliver integrated crop solutions more rapidly by intensifying the research links between our vegetable seeds and Biologics experts and thus strengthening our innovative power”, stated Dr. David Nicholson, Bayer CropScience’s Head of Research & Development. Products developed at Sacramento shall be marketed worldwide through Bayer's crop solutions.
