Rueil-Malmaison/France – Axens has recently announced the successful closing of the acquisition of 100 % of Eurecat, following the completion of the required regulatory approvals. With this transaction, Axens becomes the sole owner of Eurecat, a world-leading provider of catalyst services, marking a significant milestone in Axens’ strategy to further strengthen catalysts circularity, ex situ activation, and metals reuse worldwide.

Eurecat is a global reference in regeneration, rejuvenation, recycling of spent catalysts, and ex situ activation of fresh catalysts, as well as reactor services such as catalysts loading and unloading. The company operates across the entire catalyst life cycle in the refining, biofuels, chemicals, and gas markets, with industrial facilities in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Eurecat will continue to operate as an independent company, serving the entire catalyst market, all operators, and all catalyst manufacturers. Existing confidentiality measures on business and technical matters will remain fully in place, ensuring continuity and neutrality for all customers.

Under Axens’ sole ownership, Eurecat’s strategic direction remains unchanged. Axens intends to build on Eurecat’s recognized expertise to further develop catalyst circularity solutions, including regeneration, rejuvenation, recycling, and ex situ activation, with the objective of delivering high value services to the industry and reducing the environmental footprint of catalyst management activities across all regions.

“With the closing of this acquisition, Axens reaffirms its long-term commitment to catalyst circularity and sustainable catalyst management. Besides, this transaction further supports Axens’ strategy in metals circularity, extended to battery-related activities,” opines Quentin Debuisschert, Chairman and CEO of Axens

Eurecat’s experience in catalyst materials recycling provides a robust basis for the development of recycling processes for other metal-containing materials, such as used batteries, contributing to Axens’ long-term circular economy ambitions.
