Yes! Almost everyone wants to eat nutritious food to maintain their overall health but what if the food was created by microbes or animal cells? Maybe not. The food industry is looking to change this perception by introducing numerous food items such as plant-based meat, lab-grown meat as well products from the precision fermentation technique.

What are your favorite food items? Chocolates, cheese, or ice-creams? People who work out and are into fitness will choose more nutritious food such as meat or poultry as these items are rich in protein and vital for building muscle. Traditionally, all these food items are directly or indirectly sourced from animals but now the food industry is looking to create food from new methods or processes.

For instance, precision fermentation is a food production method in which micro-organisms form the base of this process, they are genetically engineered and then cultivated in fermentation tanks to produce animal-free fats or proteins. These are then used to produce numerous food items such as cheese, ice-cream, yogurt, chocolates, thus leading to the production of sustainable food. Precision fermentation also boasts of no lactose, no cholesterol, and no growth hormones unlike their traditional counterparts. An example from this space is the world’s first animal-free milk protein made from microflora by US-based firm Perfect Day.
