Houston/USA – The company said the project, which is expected to be completed in late 2017, would result in a 25 % increase in its global capacity to manufacture Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanizate, high-performance elastomers. These elastomers are used for automotive, industrial and consumer applications.

Like plastic, Santoprene can be extruded, molded or thermoformed easily and economically into a variety of shapes. Like rubber, it is resilient, flexible and resistant to heat, fluids and chemicals.

Exxon Mobil’s specialty plants in Newport, Wales and Pensacola, supply the special elastomer to customers around the world.
