Less is more – The US refinery capacity climbs to 17,823,659 barrels per day, despite plant closure, says the new U.S. Energy Information Administration’s new oil Refinery Capacity Report.

While the number of refineries in the US decreased to 143 in January 2013 (144 in 2012), the operable refinery capacity rose to 17,823,659 barrels per day (bpd) as on January 1st, 2013, versus 17,322,178 bpd one year before. Currently, around one million barrels refining capacity in the US is idled.
