Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Union Government to Approve PCPIR in Tamil Nadu
The Union Government will soon approve one of the most ambitious projects for Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu/India — The fifth Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) is one of the biggest projects of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers in the region. It is expected to receive the government’s approval in the next two-three months. PCPIR will be a specifically-delineated investment region that will sprawl over an area of over 250 sq km. This region will house various industrial establishments, including manufacturing plants for domestic and export-oriented production of petroleum, chemicals and petrochemical products. The region will also have establishments such as public utilities, logistics, environmental safety setups, residential areas and administrative departments. Around 100 sq km of the area will be dedicated to processing facilities, while the remainder will have other peripheral facilities. The approval is expected in the next three months.
