Stuttgard/Germany – Trelleborg's subsidiary Trelleborg Sealing Solutions plans to triple the production capacity of its Swiss Silcotech facilities with investments of roughly US $ 11 million, speakers explained. The company reacts thereby to a recent rising demand for clean room technology from pharmaceutical and life science industry, Trelleborg stated.

“These expanded capacities will provide the basis for future orders from Trelleborg's global sales activities,” notet Matthias Jakob, CEO of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Silcotech. According to him, the acquisition by Trelleborg has opened new possibilities for Silcotech. He adds that the rising sales of drugs against allergic asthma of the German pharmaceutical industry has stimulated the demand for silicone gaskets: “Only recently we took production to a seven–days–week,” Jakob says.

Most of the added capacity will be used for the production of clean room components: A new three storey production complex with a Calss ISO 7 (10.000 particel <0,1 µm) and an ISO Class 8 clean room will be build at the site. Construction works are expected to be finished in 2013.
