Butadiene Production Toyo Awarded Contract to Build Indonesia's First Butadiene Plant

Toyo Korea will build a 100,000 tonnes per year butadiene production plant at Cilegon, West Java, Indonesia. The Korean subsidary of Toyo Engineering has recently been awarded a corresponding contract by the Indonesian PT Petrokimia.

Seoul/Korea – Toyo aquired this contract despite a stiff international competion by several European and Korean competitors. The company will execute this project under an EPC turnkey contract, scheduled for completion in 2013. The contract covers engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a butadiene production facuility working with propietary Lummus/BASF technology.

Toyo has already done 30 projects in Indonesia in the last 40 years, beginning with an urea plant in 1971. Toyos latest project in the area was the construction of a propylene production site at Balongan's refinery.
