Paris/France – Technip was awarded an engineering services contract by Solvay for a new greenfield chemical plant in China. The new facility, located in Taixing, Jiangsu Province, will use Solvay's Epicerol technology to produce up to 100,000 tons/year of epichlorohydrin from glycerine. Epichlorohydrin is an organochlorine compound and used as an epoxide for the production of plastics, resins and glue.
Engineering will be done by Technip's Chinese operating center in Shanghai. Solvay expects the plant to be completed by the second half of 2013.
