IPB 2014 Success for China’s Biggest Powder and Bulk Event

The 12th annual International Powder & Bulk Solids Processing Conference & Exhibition (IPB 2014) was held at Intex Shanghai, China. The exhibition welcomed 6,894 visitors − seven percent more than last year. By attracting 165 exhibitors from 14 countries, IPB has once again proved to be China’s No. 1 trade show for the processing of powder and bulk solids.

Shanghai/China – With full support from Nürnberg Messe China and the Chinese Society of Particuology, IPB has become a must-attend event for everyone interested in the handling of powder and bulk solids.

“As China’s annual ‘one-stop-shop’ trade show for all industries focused on mixing, conveying, milling, screening, and granulating, IPB has been soundly affirmed by processing engineers in the powder and bulk industries,” says Evian Gu, IPB project manager at Nürnberg Messe China. “Dust-explosion protection became the most important topic at this year’s IPB. Since the significant dust-explosion accident in KunShan, more and more Chinese companies have begun to focus on work area safety.”

Four out of ten exhibitors were international. They came to Shanghai from Germany, Japan, the U.S., the U.K., Switzerland, France, New Zealand, Singapore, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Malaysia, and India. IPB is an attractive event for leaders in a variety of different industries. The largest number of visitors came from the chemical industry (36 percent), followed by mineral producers (12 percent), food and feed manufacturers (11 percent), and pharmaceutical companies (nine percent). One-third of the attendees came to IPB to get information about basic mechanical processing technologies.

Close to the pulse of the bulk industry: supporting program

A large variety of onsite programs rounded out the event in Shanghai. The technical seminar brought together experts to discuss practical approaches to dust explosion control, technological innovations in size reduction, and granulation of powders and bulk solids. Another highlight was the fourth Index Seminar held in parallel to IPB 2014. On the second day of the show, Index assembled specialists from China, the U.S., Germany, the U.K., Switzerland, and Belgium to form a unique group that discussed recent solutions for industrial explosion protection as well as security concepts.

With an increase in both the number of visitors and the net exhibition space at the recent show, the IPB is in obvious need of more space for its future development. Therefore, a new location has been announced for the next year’s show: IPB 2015 will take place from October 28 to 30 at International Sourcing’s Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center.
