Energy Efficiency Subsidiary of Solvay Reduces Energy Costs and CO2 Emissions

The Belgian chemical company Solvay has founded the subsidiary Solvay Energy Services. The business developed a concept, to reduce energy costs and the emission of carbon dioxide of the company.

Brüssel/Belgium - Solvay Energy Services tries to reduce the energy consumption and the emission of carbon dioxide of the chemical company Solvay. By 2020, the company will save 20 percent of their energy consumption and gas emission, officials say. First step in this direction were Solvay´s energy co-generation facilities with a production capacity of 1000 megawatt worldwide.

In addition, the business line will advise customers of Solvay in energy issues. The companies should take advantage of renewable resources and biofuels.

Since January 2012, experts of Solvay an their subsidiary Rhodia and Orbeo discuss about how to reduce the energy costs of the company in the amount of 1,2 Billion Euro.
