Russia: Rosneft, Marubeni and MHI Sign Deal Study of Hydrocarbon Project Initiated

Rosneft and a consortium of Japanese companies have signed a Heads of Agreement for the joint exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons in the Russian Far East.

Moscow/Russia — The consortium of companies consists of Marubeni Corporation, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation and Inpex. The license block is located in an offshore zone of the Russian Federation.

Following the signing, Igor Sechin, Rosneft’s Chief Executive Officer said: "This is aimed at the efficient monetization of oil and gas resources, among others at the perspective market of Japan, and is a logical continuation of the agreements between the Russian President and the Japanese Prime Minister to strengthen and develop Russian-Japanese relations."
